We are excited to serve our awesome God here in our city, our backyard! It’s been a great start and we are having so much fun loving God and loving our neighbors. We work hard from 8am-4pm each day scrapping, painting and spending time talking with our home owner. It’s then time to head back to home base at Central United Methodist Church (downtown), take showers, hang out and eat dinner. After all of this we spend time in worship in music and the Word plus we gather together in small groups and talk about what God is doing in our city. We believe Our God is the God of this city and we are asking God to move in us to transfrom this city. We will through the power of the Holy Spirit and through humble acts of service during Operation Backyard.

Greetings to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ from Linlongwe, Malawi.

We are traveling through different villages and speaking to the various churches that are a part of the Resurrection Life Fellowship. There are 8 churches that have been planted by Resurrection Life Church from Los Angeles and we are visiting each one of them. It is incredible to be welcomed in these villages. They are so warm and welcoming to us. We have played with children, spent time with the pastors and their elders and enjoyed fellowship in the spirit and wonderful prayer time.

Where ever we go we the people and children point at us and say, “Azungo” which means “White Man.” So many of the Malawians have never seen a white man or very rarely. We often scare the little children because they have never seen anyone like us before.

God is working in us and using us to encourage and affirm who these believers are in Christ. We are so blessed and thank you so much for your prayers.

Blessings to you

We started our journey and before we could leave the states we were delayed due to bad weather in Washington D.C. So from that point on believed in faith that God would get us there, but what we didn’t realize that it would then take us 5 days to arrive in Linlongwe, Malawi. We had to stay one night in Washington D.C. and 2 nights in Johannesburg, South Africa. We finally arrived in Malawi on day 5 and immediately went to church in area 25. We were so blessed and humbled by their love for Jesus and love for us of which they only new 2 of the 5 on our team. Pastor Glynn and his wife and 5 children graciously have given us their home to stay in for our visit while they all stay in the garage. I’m very overwhelmed with their devotion and love. We have already learned so much about these wonderful brothers and sisters in Christ who are faithful to spreading the gospel of Jesus to all those around them. They have shown us so much honor and respect. Please pray for our team as we are struggling with jetlag. We are 6 hours ahead of K-town. We are so excited to be here and we believe God is working greatly here in Malawi and especially in our hearts. God is awesome and worthy of our lives and spreading the gospel. As Pastor Glynn says, Christianity is not a religion it is Life!

I don’t know how often we will be able to use internet so blessings to you in the Lord Jesus Christ from Malawi, Africa. We love and miss you all very much.

Hello everyone,

God has given me the incredible opportunity to go on a short term mission trip to Malawi, Africa. I, along with 4 other team members leave on June 4 for the continent of Africa. I will return on June 20 just in time for Operation Backyard!

Malawi is a landlocked country located in southeastern Africa. It is bordered in the North and East by Tanzania, on the east, south and southwest by Mozambique and to the west by Zambia. It is rated as 160 of 171 poorest countries in the world with the average income being $600 a year. It also has over 1 million people affected by HIV/AIDS and continues to increase.

We will be staying with a local pastor and his family in the capitol city of Lilongwe. We will meet with local pastors and missionaries to have fellowship with and learn more about following Jesus from the believers in Malawi. Part of our time will be spent preaching and proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ while teaching teenagers about the physical and eternal benefits of sexual abstinence and purity. We also will spend 3 days being the hands and feet of Jesus while ministering to orphans and adults in an AIDS clinic.

Please pray for that God will do His work in us and through us as we glorify God by pursuing the Christ life and engage the world. I will try to give weekly updates here on this blog. Check back in on occasion to read about my journey with Christ in Malawi, Africa. Grace to you who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love.
